How to check whether you are really getting 4K
Most player apps expose stream information — resolution, bitrate, codec — in a settings or info panel. Open it while a 4K channel is playing and read the actual resolution rather than the channel name.
A channel labelled 4K running at 1920x1080 is upscaled. A genuine 4K stream reports 3840x2160 and a bitrate well above what an HD channel uses. This takes thirty seconds and settles the question permanently.
What you need at your end
About 25Mbps sustained per 4K stream, a TV or device that actually supports 4K decoding, and ideally a wired connection. Wi-Fi can carry 4K but is far more likely to drop under load, and a dropped 4K stream is what most people experience as buffering.
If two people want 4K at once, double the bandwidth requirement and check your connection can hold 50Mbps at peak hours before blaming any service.
